About the role:

This unique dual-faceted role at The Croydon offers the opportunity to be an integral part of our premier Centre for Art, Design and Technology. You will liaise between our curatorial vision and hands-on technical operations, overseeing our gallery program while ensuring our state-of-the-art studios maintain the highest standards for our staff and students. Supporting the staff and students of the Visual Arts and Technological and Applied Studies faculties, this is a diverse role within a collaborative environment.

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Exhibition and Program Management: Gallery management of the gallery program for Term 2, providing administrative support and logistical oversight to meet exhibition deadlines and maintain professional standards. 
  • Technical Installation and Art Handling: Facilitate installation and de-installation of exhibitions, ensuring expert art handling, secure transport and audio-visual and lighting setups as required during Term 2.
  • Studio and Facilities Oversight: Maintaining the TAS and Visual Arts studio facilities by ordering resources, maintaining equipment and ensuring all studios are clean, stocked and fully operational for classroom use as required. 
  • Communications and Promotional Design: Maintain gallery visual communication through graphic design, professional documentation (photography) and liaison with the Communications department as required. 
  • WH&S Support and Safety: Facilitate and maintain safe working practices through attending WH&S meetings and maintaining WHS compliance, including delegating tasks to assistant staff to maintain a safe, professional environment. 

Skills and expectations: 

  • Act as a proactive self-starter with the ability to prioritise and complete complex tasks independently, meeting deadlines and managing competing priorities
  • Interact with all members of the College and the public in a helpful, understanding, and professional manner.
  • Work effectively as a resilient team member, contributing positively during high-pressure situations and exhibition rollouts to ensure collective success. 
  • Maintain open lines of communication with the Visual Arts and TAS Heads of Faculty, and the Curator, Adelaide Perry Gallery, ensuring any concerns or operational issues are raised promptly and handled with integrity. 

 

You will be required to support the Christian ethos of the College.

 

You will need to provide a current Working With Children Check Clearance Number and date of birth.
